After our trip to the Kenai Peninsula we met up with George and Leslie in Denali on our way north. We rode out into the park around 9pm and didn't leave till 1 or 1:30 in the morning. We had a great walk by the Savage River and a great owl sighting on the way out of the park. We approached a dry creek bed and slowed to take a look. We saw an immature Great Horned Owl sitting on the gravel bed about fifteen feet from the road. We watched it make small flights to a couple close spots at the edge of the trees and the final swoop was a successful one with a little rodent for dinner. It was to dark to take pictures but a joy to watch.
