A couple of weeks ago, Andrew and I took advantage of the Horseshoe Meadow campground and trailhead before they are snowed in and closed for the winter. The area is reached by a paved road that leads out of Lone Pine and goes up to 10,000 feet at the southern end of the Sierras. We decided to do an overnight trip (22 miles roundtrip) to the top of Mt. Langley, the southernmost fourteener. It didn't go quite as well as planned, and we were chased off the mountain by weather for the first time ever. The first five miles were beautiful though and we can't wait to try again sometime.
