For our first weekend this season we decided to take a few newcomers out to see the moving rocks. We camped out at the nearby campground and had a great time. The two new guys have come from Glacier Bay so they needed a taste of the hot, sunny, dusty desert. Although we didn't know that a wind storm was on its way, which made for a noisy, gritty nights sleep. Tents were flattened in 40 mph winds with gusts of probably 50 or more. Dust leaked through every seam and lined sleeping bags, faces, and pillows. It was gone by morning with no harm done and only made for a great first experience in Death Valley.
